I entered a new terra, my ears pricked forward taking in all the sounds around me. One sound in particular caught my attention. The sound of a creek. My pillars carried me forward at a fast trot, on the verge of a canter. My nares flared, taking in the scent of moving water and I couldnt help but gallop towards it. I was so thirsty. I hadn't had any water since I left my father's herd.
I finally reached the edge of a small, crystal clear stream and lowered my muzzle to drink greedily. I drank until my thirst was quenched completely before lifting my crania to look around. The wind brought me no scent of another horse for miles. It would be perfect.
I raised my bod in a full rear and sliced the air with my powerful daggers. I snorted loudly before returning my forelegs to the earth. A loud whinny escaped my maw before I cantered around in a large circle. The exercise felt nice even though I had been running a lot lately. I soon stopped and then began to graze.

Ella tossed her dial excitedly as she cantered around. Her banner flung out in the wind behind her as she moved. Spotting a creek, she decided to canter beside it. She followed the water's path until she spotted a black stallion and came to a sliding stop. Nares flared as she stood beside the creek.
He looked young, but his size made up for it. He stood taller than her, perhaps due to the draft blood that clearly ran through his veins. He was attractive, gentleness showing in his eyes but strength and power showing through his muscled build. He was alone though..either because that's how he preferred to live or because he hadn't yet found anyone else to join his herd. Ella whickered to him in a friendly manner.

A soft whicker caught my attention and I lifted my head quickly to see a pretty chestnut painted essa standing before me. I nickered in response and smiled.
"Hello. I'm Obsidian. Welcome to Hillcrest Fields."
She was pretty, her color flashy and attractive and her thin blaze giving her a very feminine appearance. Her eyes seemed curious and drew me in. I snorted softly to myself and shook out my mane.

Smiling she dipped her head and responded. It's a pleasure to meet you, Obsidian. And thank you. I'm Ella. He had seemed kind enough, his words being polite and soft. Perhaps he would allowed her to stay. She would appreciate a place in a herd. She had been on her own for quite some time now.

I watched as she dipped her head before speaking. As she looked back up to me, I smile gently. I tried as hard as I could to let others see me for who I actually was, but for some reason many of them automatically associate being a friesian with being mean and aggressive. I was the exact opposite.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Obsidian. And thank you. I'm Ella."
"The pleasure's all mine, miss Ella. If you're in need of a herd, you're more than welcome to join me."

That would be wonderful, Obsidian. I appreciate it. She smiled gratefully to him and began to graze. She hadn't had much opportunity to graze. She had been more concerned with looking for a herd to stay safe. Especially during the breeding season. It wasn't the time for a mare to be out on her own. Obsidian seemed nice. Ella believed he'd prove to be a wonderful lead stallion, one she'd feel safe with.

"That would be wonderful, Obsidian. I appreciate it."
Her graciousness encouraged a smile from me. She was happy I had accepted her, but I was happy she had come in the first place. I hadn't been here very long and already I had a herd. It was small, but every herd has to start out small. I could catch the scents of a group of mares nearby, more than likely in a neighboring land, but I wasn't about to go after them just yet. If I could smell them, I'm sure the wind brought them my scent at some point.
I smiled politely at Ella and dipped my skull to her before grazing quietly on the new spring grass. I listened to the bugs buzzing around and watching the grasshoppers that darted in front of my maw as I ripped the tender blades from the ground.

He spoke no further so Ella began to graze as well. She had been travelling for quite a long time and her stomach had been protesting for hours now. Her tailed flicked against her two toned pelt, keeping away the biting insects.
Ooc: I have no muse for her at the moment x.X

Mares were gathering in the next land over, the wind had brought me their scents. There was no scent of a stallion lingering in the wind with them which led me to the conclusion that they had no protection. With the wolf pack around, that wasn't a good thing. But to leave Ella on her own to go fetch them could be even worse. I had a choice to make. Leave all those mares and possibly foals to fend for themselves, or leave Ella here alone just long enough for me to bring them back here?
"Ella, dear, there are a group of mares gathering nearby without the protection of a stallion. I can smell it in the wind. I'm going off to offer them a place here. You may come along if you wish, and if not then please don't go far. I'll be back shortly, call for me if you need me."
I pressed my maw to her neck before I raced off, trying to go as fast as I could to hurry up and return home. I hated to leave Ella here alone.
