Shera galloped into the area with her son close on her heels. She was enjoying the run and apparently so was Jack. The little chestnut colt threw in a few bucks as he ran. He galloped faster, nearly passing Shera before they reached the pond.
The bay painted mare nudged her son and whickered softly before taking a drink. Jack, on the other hand, proceeded to trot around aimlessly before returning to his dam to nurse. Afterwards, he layed down in the thick grass and lipped at his mother's forelegs.

He had been following the scent of a lone mare for quite some time now. His travels were rewarded when he spotted the bay and white painted essa beside the lake. He noticed the chestnut painted colt laying beside her. Figures. At least he had found a mare though, unclaimed. And she was in heat. Double win. Whickering to her, he approached her and introduced himself. Hello there, the name's Draco. And you are?

Shera lifted her head at the sound of approaching hoofbeats. She snorted softly as she took in the huge black draft stallion standing before her. Jack jumped up and darted behind his mother, peeking out at the stallion. Dipping her head in acknowledgement, she answered him. Nice to meet you, Draco. I'm Shera and this is my son, Jack. She glanced back at the colt and smiled reassuringly to him.

Well Shera, you and your son need a herd. It isn't safe out here with all these wolves running around. Especially for a young colt. Join me in my home, Mapleview Heights. My close friend, and substallion, lives there too. Double protection for you and your son. Follow me. He knew he was be excessively straight-forward and he didn't care. He knew the mare would follow him. How could a mother refuse protection for her foal when there were so many wolves around that wouldn't think twice about making him a meal? Draco trotted off, keeping his pace slow enough for them both to keep up.

Shera nodded in agreement. Thank you, Draco. I appreciate it. She whickered to her son and took off after Draco.
